Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, the Assistant Director of Human Resources/Recruiting manages all phases of the employment process and advises hiring managers on all hiring matters for all administrative and staff employees, including filling temporary assignments with outside agencies. This position is full time for the full year.
Responsibilities include:
  • Interpret and apply various labor contracts and federal/state laws as they relate to employment.
  • Work with hiring managers to prepare or edit job postings
  • Coordinate short term employment for summer and other College break staffing
  • Maintain the current database for resume tracking system (PeopleAdmin)
  • Maintain and implement applicant expense and travel reimbursement policy as well as relocation reimbursement policy for new hires.
  • Monitor and facilitate the onboarding process in Workday including I-9 process, work with front office staff for implementation
  • Participate with search committees as requested
  • Provide information to hiring managers about legal requirements relating to the hiring process as well as the College's commitment to diversity
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and New York state employment laws
  • Manage and monitor HR website
  • Coordinate and manage annual Employee Service Awards Recognition event
  • Will participate in the implementation of Workday recruiting
  • Plan and coordinate new employee orientation
  • Participate in staff upgrade request process
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required; A minimum of three years of staffing or HR related experience, higher education experience a plus. The successful candidate must: Have knowledge of employment and employment-related laws; Have demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills; Have demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite Have working knowledge of PeopleAdmin or similar recruiting system Have working knowledge of Workday or similar HRIS system
