Assistant Professor, NYU Tisch Cinema Studies

The Department of Cinema Studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor faculty positions to begin Fall 2018. We are seeking scholars whose work on the history and theory of the moving image demonstrates an innovative contribution in one or more of the following areas: film and media as aesthetic and political forms, digital/new media, history of theory. Field and period are open, although preference will be given to candidates whose work engages with multiple media forms.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach existing courses in the curriculum, such as Film Theory, Introduction to Cinema Studies, Television: History and Culture. They are also expected to introduce new courses in their area of expertise. We are particularly interested in applicants who can help to build our growing program and can foster interdisciplinary relationships with other programs and departments across the university. Ph.D. in hand preferred at the time of application.
