Summer Camp Nurse

Summer Camp Nurse - Day Shift

Job Description: The St. John's Summer Program offers a co-ed, residential, summer camp program for domestic and international guests between the ages of 10 and 17. Responsibilities include overseeing the health and safety of campers, responding to medical situations, dispensing of approved prescription and over-the-counter medications, maintaining accurate medical records, and other duties in support of the camp operation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New York
  • Minimum 1 year pediatric experience in a school, day care or summer camp setting
  • Ability to provide evidence of (2019) current certifications in CPR Professional and Advance First Aid, including infant, child & adult
  • Understanding of food allergies and administration of Epi-pen
  • Knowledge of common childhood illnesses, rashes and communicable disease common to youth and summer camp setting
  • Strong organizational skills and communication skills
  • Strong diagnostic skills
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, patient and compassionate
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently
  • Ability to be flexible, adjust quickly and react positively to change


Reports to: Summer Camp Health Director & Director of Conference Services, Richard Wolcott

Begin/End: June 24 - August 19, 2019 Up to 35 hours per week. Both positions not to exceed 280 hours each for a total of 560 hours.

Days/Hours

Position Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3 pm, additional hours may be requested.

Where will they work: Donovan Hall Student Health Infirmary

Hourly Salary range: $25 - 35/hr.

Budget range salary only - $7,000 - $19,600
