Project Manager 1, Facilities, Design & Construction


Job Description: The role of Project Manager I will function as an active member of the Design & Construction department, managing multiple construction projects from inception to completion.

We are looking for a creative individual who is passionate about the built environment, someone with good work ethic and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:
  • Work on multiple design and construction projects concurrently
  • Ensure that projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule
  • Manage client requests, reviews, approvals, schedules and other communications as well as project closures
  • Manages all furniture selection, procurement and coordination for all projects
  • Manages and maintains all furniture inventory
  • Analyze bids and recommend vendors, contractors and consultants to the Executive Director
  • Strictly follow Design & Construction rules and regulations
  • Review payment requisitions
  • Make sure clients' needs are met
  • Assist, review and negotiate contracts, liaising with legal counsel as appropriate in conjunction with the Executive Director of Design & Construction
  • Develop, recommend and implement project plan
  • Monitor and control progress, cost and budget throughout the project
  • Review and negotiate change orders with contractors
  • Manage project within budget and within schedule
  • Conduct field reviews
  • Track project cost details and provide periodic updates to management




Qualifications:
  • BA/BS required in architectural/interior design or related fields
  • Minimum of ten to twelve years of project management experience in the design and construction field
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, priorities, and meet deadlines on time and within budget
  • Fully versed at managing entire design team, construction manager, general contractor, AV integrator, expeditor, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of all major furniture manufacturers and related components is a must
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to client's needs
  • Be able to demonstrate solid leadership and presentation skills
  • Risk assessment capabilities
  • Ability to work with high-level administration and academic staff
  • Working knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Experience in handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • Ability to establish priorities
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong attention to details
