Postdoctoral Biology Research Associate

Title: Postdoctoral Biology Research Associate

Job Description: The postdoctoral associate works closely with the departmental chairperson and is responsible for a number o f tasks including, but not limited to: supervising and coordinating Biochemistry teaching laboratories, preparation of samples and protocols for the teaching laboratories, grading students, supervising undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects, designing and troubleshooting experiments, collecting and interpreting research data, and writing publications and grant proposals. The postdoctoral research associate must possess teaching experience and skills, excellent laboratory research skills, as well as motivation, time management, inter-personal, and organizational skills, initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinating and supervising all sections of Biochemistry laboratory (BIO 3391L)
  • Preparing samples and protocols for BIO 3391L
  • Grading student laboratory reports and advising students in BIO 3391L
  • Supervising undergraduate students during their research projects
  • Supervising, advising, and mentoring doctoral students
  • Maintaining good working and safe environment in the BIO 3391L laboratory
  • Maintaining all laboratory equipment, computers, and instruments in good order
  • Designing, developing, and troubleshooting new experiments
  • Reading and interpreting research literature
  • Interpreting the research data and correlating them with published work
  • Writing and updating research protocols and methods


Qualifications: PhD degree, teaching experience, and a good publication record are required as well as research skills in biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics.
