Grants Manager

Job Description:

Reporting to the Controller, the Grants Manager is responsible for monitoring and coordinating the administration of post-award grant and restricted fund activities with principal investigators and administrative staff to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and funding agency requirements are being followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary contact between the Office of Business Affairs and the Office of Grants and Sponsored Research.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to principal investigators in the interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports distributed to principal investigators and administrative staff.
  • Responsible for reviewing grant drawdowns and invoicing as well as monitoring receipt of payments.
  • Review all financial status reports (interim and final) and work directly with principal investigators to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Monitor indirect costs and cost share against budget.
  • Coordinate time and effort reporting with the Office of Grants and Sponsored Research.
  • Assist with preparation of related audit schedules and analyses for financial statements audit.
  • Main liaison for the Uniform Guidance audit, specifically to prepare the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards and provide supporting documentation for grant activities (including Student Financial Aid) to external auditors.
  • Main liaison for audits by funding agencies.
  • Prepare related surveys.
  • Prepare Federal Indirect Cost Recovery proposal.
  • Update and develop policies and procedures over the grants reporting process in conjunction with the Office of Grants and Sponsored Research.
  • Supervise, train, and develop staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. CPA certification preferred.
  • A minimum of five years relevant experience managing grants required.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Successfully demonstrated ability to set priorities and work on multiple tasks.
  • Strong supervisory skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to work effectively with administrators on a professional level.
  • Must be proficient with automated financial systems and financial software applications.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner financial systems a plus.
