Global Studies/US History Educator- Part-Time - Summer

Position Title: Global Studies/US History Educator

Position: Part-time (summer)

Primary Function: Under the direction of the Program Director and Coordinator, candidate will provide instruction to students in Social Studies covering the content areas of Global/ US History. Educator will also review writing and literacy skills and the exploration of related college majors and careers.

Additional Information: The Upward Bound Summer Academy will run from Tuesday, July 10 th - Thursday, August 16 th . Educators will provide instruction for a minimum of two hours a day, two days per week and be provided an hour a week for instructional prep. Additional hours are available through the supervision of field trips and other program activities related to the instructional content area.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • State Certification or college teaching experience;
  • Five years teaching experience at the secondary or collegiate level
  • Knowledge of Common Core and Next Generation Learning Standards;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to inspire and motivate youth;
  • Deep rooted passion in serving students and helping them achieve their goals.
  • Experience working with adolescents and effective classroom management skills.


Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate instructional content area objectives in Global/US History to program participants.
  • Collaborate with Program Director and Coordinator to design and implement summer course curriculum and activities
