Responsibilities:

Building Constituent Relationships & Networks
  • Develop and administer outreach programs to students and faculty.
  • Work closely with college academic advisors to ensure seamless career development advising of students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to facilitate student learning by assisting students in securing appropriate mentoring, internship, shadowing, and work experiences to enhance overall academic experiences and learn skills essential to successful employment.
  • Facilitate involvement of faculty in academically targeted career events.
  • Work cooperatively with Employer Relations personnel to identify and develop experiential learning and job opportunities for students.
  • Identify and stay abreast of current employment trends in various industries of greatest potential interest to targeted students.


Career Advising
  • Provide comprehensive individual and group advisement sessions to target population(s) for a multicultural community of students and alumni within the school.
  • Coach students to begin their professional network by facilitating connections with employers and referring students to ongoing career advisement.
  • Identify and encourage participation in experiential and internship programs.
  • Cooperate with the academic advisement offices in assisting students with identifying the most appropriate academic "major(s)" and/or "minor(s)."
  • Administer and interpret a variety of career assessment instruments to individuals and groups to enhance career advisement.
  • Manage career planning and job search resources and workshops to enhance the students' career preparedness.
  • Develop and lead both foundational training (resume preparation, internships, interview skills, mock interviews, soft skills, and job search strategies) and career-related programs customized for students within the school and various programs.
  • Coordinate with Employer Relations to create special projects/programs, e.g. employer panels, as assigned.
  • In conjunction with career professionals in the central office, develop and implement programming for target population(s).


Internship Coordination
  • Ensure that training and programming addresses essential skills development necessary for placement in internships.
  • Identify and encourage participation in experiential and internship programs.
  • Be informed of national, state and local hiring practices, guidelines, and labor related issues as they pertain to internships.
  • Support Faculty efforts to develop and expand internship options and opportunities.
  • Promote and monitor student submission of non-credit internship experiences.
  • Report quarterly on internship activity within the college and by department.


Assessment
  • Conduct assessment and follow-up through electronic communications, direct mail, and telecommunications of all student appointments to determine learning outcomes; satisfaction and employment.
  • Effectively assess programs and services, providing recommendations for changes as needed.
  • Collect and document records of student participation in programs.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years experience in career services, human resources, career coaching, corporate recruiting, or related field.
  • Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and talent acquisition trends.
  • Interest, enthusiasm and experience working with a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, experience teaching, training or facilitating. Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to groups.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various platforms to best meet university, student and employer needs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, presentation software, and social media.
  • Must be a self-starter with effective interpersonal skills who is able to work well in a team based environment under limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and effectively manage relationships.
  • It is preferred that the candidate have experience with internship coordination, career assessment tools, and knowledge of career development theory and counseling
  • Evening work required, weekend work as necessary.
