The Department of Rhetoric, Communication & Theatre in St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John's University (New York) is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in fall 2018.

As part of St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Department of Rhetoric, Communication & Theatre educates students in the ways in which communicative inquiries and practices create, sustain, modify, and challenge our cultural, legal, organization, and political cultures. The Department offers communication courses that feature both performance activities and emphasize the theory, history, and criticism of rhetorical communication. Our experienced faculty pursues a teaching philosophy that helps students achieve personal fulfillment, civic engagement and career success. In addition to providing public speaking classes for hundreds of students every semester, the Department also offers a major in Rhetoric and Public Address, minors in public address and several communication specialties, and a minor in Theatre. The Department is home to the St. John's University Debate Society, an internationally ranked debate team that provides students opportunities to compete in British Parliamentary debate tournaments throughout the United States and abroad. Description of Responsibilities:

We seek a colleague who will contribute to the Department's program in rhetoric & public address and communication studies. The successful candidate will teach required courses in the Core Curriculum, enhance the Department's curriculum within his or her area of expertise, possess an active research agenda, and contribute to involvement in other Departmental activities. Emphasis will be given to professors who specialize in the areas of rhetoric & public address, digital communication, gender studies, health communication, or performance studies.

Qualifications:
