Position/Job Summary

Temporary, live-in positions from July 9-22, 2017, (High School Division), or July 23-29, 2017, (Intermediate Division), responsible for providing supervision and guidance to students who stay overnight in Ithaca College residence halls. Duties include ensuring the physical safety and overall well-being of participants; checking-in with students at each meal; running a daily recreation activity; assisting faculty and conductors as needed; performing as needed; possibly storing and administering prescription medication as per the guidelines of the Tompkins County Health Department; serving as a role model for students both personally and professionally; and keeping Director advised of any conflicts, accidents and disciplinary problems in the residence hall.

Position/Job Qualifications

Candidates should express genuine interest in working with a diverse group of children in a residence hall environment and have a basic understanding of human, social, and educational development. A background in music is required. Candidates with prior experience working with youth in a camp environment, a history of providing leadership to a variety of age groups, and the ability to foster the development of a community through a variety of methods preferred. All counselors are required to attend a health and safety meeting and be able to practice and adhere to the methods and guidelines as stated in the Ithaca College Safety and Medical Plan.
