Position/Job Summary

Provide technical hardware and software service in the form of set-up, testing, installation, maintenance, and break/fix of all departmental physical and virtual endpoint systems supported by Digital Instruction and Information Services. Provide support on site and via telephone, email, chat, and other methods for client inquiries and problems. Coordinate resolution efforts with other Digital Instruction and Information Services staff, and maintain appropriate service records.

SUPERVISION :
This position reports to the Endpoint Systems Coordinator. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

1. Maintain a general understanding of the Ithaca College computing systems, application software products, networks, and computing environments.

2. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the endpoint systems (physical and virtual workstations, laptops, and mobile devices), hardware, software, and peripheral equipment supported by Digital Instruction and Information Services.

3. Set up, evaluate, and test endpoint systems for departmental use. Install, connect, and test departmental systems.

4. Assist in maintaining the College's Technology Renewal initiative.

5. Provide support on site and via telephone, email, chat, and other methods for client inquiries and problems; investigate, troubleshoot and respond in a timely and professional fashion. Coordinate troubleshooting activities with other Digital Instruction and Information Services staff for problem resolution.

6. Perform troubleshooting and repair of both desktop and portable Macintosh systems, such as iMac and MacBook Pro. Identify and resolve common Mac OS X problems, and use Apple Service and Support products and practices to effectively repair Apple hardware.

7. Solid working knowledge of current Windows and Apple products.

8. Set up and troubleshoot domains, user accounts and software accounts.

9. SCCM deployment tools and Casper Suite

10. Configure, test, and troubleshoot network connectivity and wireless access for local and remote computers or devices. Ability to configure advanced network configurations on endpoint devices.

11. Carry out periodic maintenance of equipment. Perform regular maintenance on the college owned enterprise edition HP Network Laser printers around campus which includes troubleshooting of issues and installing maintenance kits, rollers, fuser assemblies and updating firmware.

12. Maintain manufacturer certifications for the endpoint systems hardware and software used by the Ithaca College community.

13. Assist in evaluating available hardware, software, and services; recommend improvements where warranted.

14. Assist in updating documentation and inventory of departmental equipment, departmental configurations, and user profiles.

15. Lift and move computer and peripheral equipment as needed.

16. Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

Associate's degree and a minimum of 4 years' experience or the equivalent combination of technical certification and experience in desktop service with hardware and software installation, diagnosis and repair; strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, written and verbal communications skills; excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with the campus community in a tactful, patient and courteous manner and demonstrated ability to work with colleagues, ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; demonstrated knowledge of various endpoint systems hardware, operating systems, and software applications supported by Digital Instruction and Information Services; completion of Apple Certified Mac Technician ( ACMT ), Dell Certified Systems Expert ( DCSE ), and A+ certifications within one year of employment; a valid New York State Driver's License or the ability to obtain one are required. Previous experience working in a college or university setting providing endpoint systems support is preferred.
