Position/Job Summary
The Office of Human Resources at Ithaca College is seeking applications to fill the position of Assistant Director for Development and Employee Relations. The Assistant Director will work closely with faculty and staff to identify, design, implement, maintain and monitor effective training and development programs and opportunities that will enhance leadership acumen and are aligned with the College's priorities; participate in the development, implementation, and management of positive employee relations and development programs and practices in collaboration with the Director of Employee Relations and Development; and assist in employee relations for staff and faculty with a focus on conflict resolution.
Position/Job Responsibilities
Assist in developing strategies to integrate employee development initiatives with department, division, and college priorities
Maintain a robust calendar of employee development training programs to include delivering programming for internal growth and skill training
Conduct appropriate needs assessments to determine appropriate training programs
Track employee development and training opportunities and individual participation
Design and develop materials and modules for new training programs based on needs assessments
Provide career and performance coaching for employees seeking guidance in their personal development initiatives
Identify independent consultant for use in delivery of personal and professional development programs for staff and faculty
Assist in facilitating department retreats and meetings
Coordinate Workplace Harassment Prevention training and deliver other compliance related training
Research trends and identify training needs to plan, develop, and deliver formal training on a variety of positive employee relations and development topics
Foster an environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, leadership, and continuous improvement
Assist in coordinating the College's staff performance and 360 administrator review process
Provide employee relations support to include faculty and staff consultation, conflict resolution, and mediation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students at all levels of the College community
Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse, and respectful college community
Collaborate with colleagues within the Office of Human Resources to enhance employee relations throughout the college community
Support staff and faculty on employee relation matters; provide coaching
Maintain and track case management plan for each assigned and reported employee relations issue
Assist in delivering disciplinary action
Position/Job Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and fostering an inclusive work environment and the ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving techniques, interviewing and investigating
Effective communication and interpersonal skills that support the ability to build and enhance working relationships, credibility, and rapport with all levels of the college community
Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Demonstrated presentation skills that motivate and empower small and large audiences
Work experience in adult education in the classroom, online, and in blended environments and, thus, practical knowledge in teaching adults
Preferred:
SHRM Certification or HRCI Certification
Certification as a professional in training and development
Instructional design and development experience
Experience with Learning Management Systems
