Coordinator of Athletic Marketing & Special Events

Title Position Reports To: Associate Athletic Director for External Relations
JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator serves the basic function of marketing our athletic teams on campus to our general student body and off campus in the local community. The Coordinator also organizes athletic department special events including (but not limited to) Midnight Madness, The Ficke Panther Golf Classic, Black History Month Reception, The Hall of Fame Dinner, varsity sport alumni days, special recognition team reunions and assists with The Fall Cocktail Party. This position works with various constituents on campus including Residence Life, Center for Student Involvement, and student government for on-campus marketing as well as the University Advancement Office and Finance Office for the organization, planning and reconciliation of athletic department special events. The person in this role will also be asked to sit on several on-campus committees including Weekend Engagement Committee or University Golf Outing Planning Committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Serve as department liaison to campus community to promote games to student body.
Build relationships with local community to solicit ticket sales for basketball and other varied sporting events.
Manage in-game promotions including sponsorship obligations, game day scripts and music, and halftime and time-out promotions.
Organize athletic department special events including Midnight Madness, Black History Month Dinner, Hall of Fame Dinner, Ficke Panther Golf Classic and other team special events (recognitions/anniversaries).
Coordinate with University Finance Office on all special events reconciliations.
Department contact for all varsity sport alumni events.
Work with Associate AD for External Relations on Panther Club database management, gift deposits and acknowledgement.
Complies with policies and procedures set forth by Adelphi University, the Northeast 10 Conference, and the NCAA.
Responsible for knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. If found responsible for a violation of NCAA regulations, will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action, including termination if appropriate. Also may be responsible for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the University has violated an NCAA regulation.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Position requires working weekends and holidays.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
Strong supervisory capabilities.
Experience creating flyers/promotional material using Adobe Suite (or other comparable program) to encourage attendance at upcoming games/events.
Knowledge or experience of planning/organizing fundraising events.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and E-mail.
Ability to work nights and weekends is required.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required.
