Job Description:


The Coordinator of Field Supervision for the Department of Literacy and Special Education is responsible for the recruitment, assignment, and oversight of field supervisors for the college's graduate and undergraduate special education student teaching clinical placements in early childhood, childhood, and secondary education. This person also works with the Office of Field Placement & Advisement in the identification of appropriate field placements for student teachers and graduate interns in these programs. Additionally, this person serves as liaison between the college, student teachers, graduate interns and cooperating teachers regarding matters related to off-campus field placements.


RESPONSIBILITES:



  1. Network with school district administrators in the development of new student teaching opportunities and development of MOUs.

  2. Collaborate, on a semester-by-semester basis, with the Teacher Education Department regarding the coordination and assignment of the supervision of student teachers in the following graduate and undergraduate general education programs and/ or levels: Inclusive Early Childhood, Childhood Education, Secondary Education, Certification Only Programs.

  3. Recruit, hire, train, and support supervisors in the execution of their duties including the consistent use of the observation protocols.

  4. Collaborate with the office of Field Placement and Advisement regarding the placement of student teachers.

  5. Assign supervisors to student teachers by area of certification, level, and geographic location.

  6. Conduct both a fall and spring student teaching application meeting in coordination with the Office of Field Placement and Advisement.

  7. Coordinate professional development for cooperating teachers and supervisors.

  8. Cultivate relationships with districts and determine professional development needs that St Rose can fulfill.

  9. Problem-solve any field issues between cooperating teachers, supervisors, and student teachers

  10. Inform the Dean's secretary of supervisory assignments once all assignments have been completed or if there are any changes in supervisory assignments.

  11. Coordinate the portfolio review for graduate and undergraduate dual majors each semester.

  12. Coordinate the internship and/or residency programs and coordinate the supervisory assignments of such placements.

  13. To collect, analyze and report program student teaching data trends to the Department of Special Education.

  14. Supervise 10 graduate special education student teachers in a 30-day summer school placement which includes assigning placements, conducting weekly observations, and seminar support.

  15. Supervise 8 student teachers over the course of the fall and 8 in the spring semesters.

  16. Teach at least one course per semester as needed by the department.

  17. Participate in weekly department meetings.

  18. Actively assist the Office of Field Placement & Advisement in assigning student teachers to field placement sites.

Requirements:



  1. Master's Degree in Special Education

  2. Certification in Special Education

  3. At least 5 years of teaching experience in special education

  4. Experience teaching in general education as a co-teacher or consultant preferred

  5. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  6. Experience in program coordination, including related planning, implementation, coordination, and recordkeeping

  7. Current driver's license and dependable means of transportation for visiting local school districts on a frequent basis

  8. Intermediate level computer skills using a Windows based operating system, specifically word, Excel, and PowerPoint
