Human Resources Director

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada is seeking applicants for the Director of Human Resources.

The Director works collaboratively with faculty, staff and administrators and is expected to provide a high level of customer service and institutional support in the areas of employment, employee relations, Title IX Compliance, policy development and interpretations, compensation, benefits, HR programs, and HR/ERP systems.

This position requires the ability to work proactively, communicate clearly, and have exceptional verbal and written skills in order to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Director must have a strong technology orientation and the ability to write and analyze standard and ad-hoc reports. The person selected for this position may also implement new systems to maintain and improve the comprehensive range of human resources programs and services provided to customers of the HR office.

Minimum Qualificaitons:

1. Bachelor’s degree from and accredited institution.

2. Five (5) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience.

3. Four (4) years supervisory experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1. PHR, SPHR or comparable certification.

2. Title IX Coordinator ATIXA or comparable certification.

3. Two (2) years of Title IX compliance leadership experience.

4. Higher Education Human Resources Experience.

 

Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

1. Manage/Lead the Human Resources Department; recruitment, employee relations, records and benefits processing

2. Support the HR related needs of the Office of the President and TMCCshared governance.

3. Manage the College’s Workforce Analysis and lead and oversee compliance with Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other applicable requirements, including serving as the College’s Title IX Coordinator.

4. Receive and process student, faculty and staff inquiries or complaints of harassing or other discriminatory, behavior. Respond to and investigate reported issues of harassment, discrimination and other violations of college policies as deemed necessary. Facilitate informal and formal resolutions to issues. Organize and maintain all relevant reports and files.

5. Counsel department managers and supervisors on employment policies, procedures and appropriate practices. Guides management in understanding and reviewing issues, analyzing options and impacts, and making decisions that impact staff positions at TMCC

6. Advise all levels of managers, supervisors and employee in developing job descriptions, resolving benefits issues and providing guidance on compensation programs, personnel policies and procedures.

7. Develops employment reports annually; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

8. Maintains compliance with local, state and federal regulations concerning employment laws.

9. Evaluates effectiveness of Human Resources programs and practices.

10. Other duties as assigned.
