Assistant/Associate Professor of Sports Journalism or Sports Broadcasting

The Department of Journalism invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member with a focus on sports journalism and/or sports broadcasting to begin in Fall 2018.

We seek candidates with a strong academic and/or professional background in sports journalism and/or broadcasting, demonstrated experience with online media and digital platforms, and a record of successful teaching.

The successful candidate will assist in the development and implementation of a new undergraduate, interdisciplinary Sports Communication and Media degree program within the College of Communication and Creative Arts.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in sports journalism and/or sports broadcasting. Other courses may include digital news gathering, multimedia production, and social media and the news.

This position requires successful scholarly research and publication, with efforts to seek external funding. In addition, the candidate will be expected to contribute to the department and university through service, including participation on committees, curriculum development, and campus events.

Ph.D. preferred. Master's degree in journalism or related discipline and record of professional and/or scholarly publication required. Experience in teaching and curriculum development at a college or university highly preferred.
