Rowan University is a public comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 16,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20 miles southeast of Philadelphia, with additional campuses in Camden and Stratford. The School of Health Professions was founded in July 2014 and developed into its current form as part of the University's initiative to create progressive, relevant programs to prepare professionals for careers in health and medicine. The School consists of two Departments: The Department of Nursing and the Department of Health & Exercise Science. The Department of Health and Exercise Science provides a rigorous and enlightening intellectual environment for the professional development, achievement, and distinction of leaders in all its programs. These programs include Athletic Training, Health & Physical Education, and Health Promotion & Wellness Management, all of which are nationally accredited programs; Nutrition, begun in Fall 2015, which is currently undergoing the accreditation process; and two new undergraduate programs, Community Health Advocacy & Education and Human Performance in Clinical Settings, for which accreditation will begin in the 2016-17 academic year. The Department houses graduate programs in Athletic Training, Nutrition & Dietetics, Wellness & Lifestyle Management, and Health & Physical Education (starting in 2017).

The Department of Health and Exercise Science is seeking to hire a qualified individual as a part-time (3/4-time) Instructor. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching nine (9) undergraduate credits per semester, providing office hours for meeting with students outside of class, and appropriate department and university level service. The Department has a particular need for quality instruction in the following courses: Teaching Concepts of Adapted Physical Education, Teaching Concepts of Dance in Physical Education, K-12 Health/Physical Education curriculum/Instruction, and Foundations of Fitness. Additional needs may occur for other pedagogy courses and/or courses in the MA in Health & Physical Education program.

Qualifications: Must have at least a Masters degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Exercise Science, or related area. Prior teaching experience is desired. Evidence of excellence in teaching is preferred.
