Director of Marketing

Rutgers University–Camden is seeking an exciting, highly qualified and experienced individual to tell the University’s story externally and internally, while in the process defining and building the Rutgers–Camden brand.  The Director of Marketing has responsibility for research-based messaging, marketing, and brand identity and positioning activities and overall marketing of the campus to potential populations to enhance growth and sustainability of Rutgers–Camden.  The incumbent reports to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and serves as the University’s chief marketing officer.  The incumbent represents and promotes the University, increasing its visibility and supporting the institution’s mission, vision, and goals.  S/he will lead the development and implementation of the University’s brand vision, strategy, and marketing campaigns to create a distinct positioning and identity, attract the best students, motivate alumni and donors, and recruit high quality faculty and staff.  The Director will work with Deans and Directors of Colleges, Schools, and Academic Programs in an effort to coordinate the marketing activities of the individual Colleges/Schools and programs.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field; at least 7-10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.  Graduate degree in Marketing/Business or related field is a plus.  The scope of the job frequently requires attendance at evening and/or weekend activities, and meetings.

·         Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging industry requirements and practices in area of marketing expertise.

·         Knowledge and experience in traditional as well as digital and social marketing media.

·         Management experience in budgeting, fiscal management, research, and customer service.

·         Data management and tracking skills.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

·         The ability to develop and implement strategic communications and research-based marketing plans.

·         Experience and ability to meet targeted marketing and enrollment goals.

·         Expertise in making presentations and negotiating with the media is required.

·         A commitment to working with a diverse racial, ethnic, and multicultural populations.
