Nebraska Engineering: The College of Engineering celebrates its 110th year in 2019 and is undergoing an exciting period of growth, including its 11th straight year of record enrollment, and significant increases in faculty and staff. As the only engineering college in the state of Nebraska, the college contributes significantly to the STEM workforce needs of the state. Both within the state and the university, there is a growing commitment and understanding of the importance of the College of Engineering as it focuses on translational research that ensures emerging science that supports economic development and technology transfer to help drive the state’s economy. In 2016, the college received approval for a $70 million allocation from the state to support the building of a new facility and renovation of existing facilities. When combined with private donations, this investment will transform how the college and its faculty and staff fulfill its teaching, research, outreach and economic development missions. The Position: The Dean provides intellectual, strategic, and visionary leadership for the college. In collaboration with the faculty, staff and college partners such as business and industry advisory boards, the Dean assures that the college provides students with academic programs of the highest quality and effectiveness, the continued prominence of the faculty by prioritizing the recruiting and retention of distinguished faculty at all levels with a particular focus on diversity, and the engagement of alumni and other external stakeholders to support and advance the mission of the college. The Dean serves as the public voice, developing the reputation of the college on the national and international stages, and within the profession and private industry. The Dean reports directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer and will join a very collaborative campus leadership team.
