UNIVERSITY LIBRARY TECHNICIAN - JOURNEY

Job Description: A University Library Technician Journey is needed in Research and Instructional Services (RIS) at J.Y. Joyner Library, East Carolina University. Reporting to the Head of RIS, the chosen candidate will be part of a team that supports the instructional and educational mission of the library and university by providing superior customer service and research assistance. This position's primary responsibility will be to collaborate and communicate with teaching faculty requesting library instruction, scheduling rooms for library instruction sessions, assigning library faculty and staff to teach the sessions, and compiling monthly statistics. The University Library Technician assists in scheduling and planning of library outreach and represents the library at campus outreach events. The position is responsible for teaching face-to-face information literacy sessions and staffing research service points to provide research assistance to students, faculty, and staff. The person in this position also collaborates as needed with other Joyner faculty and staff to manage and facilitate use of the Federal Documents and Microforms collections in addition to other duties, as assigned.

The normal work schedule is 8 AM to 5 PM with some nights and weekends.


Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 61 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
