LEAD TITLE IX INVESTIGATOR

Job Description: This position is part of the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities and supports the work of the University's Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator, the student conduct and judicial system, and other University stakeholders. This position is an integral part of the University's compliance with the federal requirements of Title IX, as well as the University's commitment to care for each person and maintain a healthy living, learning, and working environment. The Lead Title IX Investigator performs fact-gathering and investigative functions primarily related to sexual misconduct and harassment incidents involving East Carolina University students. The ability to remain neutral and unbiased is a crucial aspect of this position.

The Lead Title IX Investigator has administrative responsibility for monitoring and enforcing the policies and procedures of the University related to sexual misconduct and harassment as well as the student conduct system, for administering the Student Code of Conduct. The Lead Title IX Investigator will report to the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities. The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities oversees administration and supervision of the University student conduct system with authority to formulate and carry out institutional policy.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in student affairs, higher education, social work, counseling, criminal justice or related field. Requisite knowledge, training and experience related to Title IX, VAWA, and conducting investigations necessary for a candidate to be considered. The candidate must have excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills, strong organizational and administrative skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, team building skills, the ability to build positive and effective relationships across the campus and community, a strong commitment to diversity, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to manage multiple tasks, ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, knowledge of legal issues in higher education, and ability to provide exemplary customer service. The candidate must have experience interacting with the public, attorneys, parents, students, staff and faculty.
