RESEARCH MANAGER

Job Description: The Division of Research, Economic Development, and Engagement (REDE), Office of Research Development (ORD) supports the university community with pre-award research concept/proposal development assistance as well as grants management. This position reports to the ORD Director but will function in a largely independent manner by leading/managing pre-award activities. The focus of this position will be Engineering, Technology and Physical Sciences; subject to strategic priority adjustments by the Provost and the Vice Chancellor for REDE. The primary purpose of this position is to increase grant and contract proposal competitiveness from concept through submission to a sponsor with a focus on researchers at the individual level. This position will identify funding opportunities, liaise with federal (and other) sponsors, and assist faculty with proposal development.


Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a Master's degree in appropriate field; 5 years demonstrated experience with development and submission of extramural proposal for grants and contracts in a university environment; demonstrated understanding and appreciation for partnerships with faculty, senior administrators, and external research sponsor officials; Knowledge of programs and procedures for granting agencies, including federal agencies (e.g. NSF, NIH, DHS, DOE, DOD, USDA, NOAA, NEH, NEA) as well as corporate and private foundations and sponsors, and knowledge of relevant OMB regulations. Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
