PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Job Description: Program Coordinator. STEM-Corps East is seeking applications and nominations for a twelve-month, full-time, stated definite term, non-faculty position in the College of Education, East Carolina University to begin September 1, 2017. Salary commensurate with qualifications.

STEM-Corps East is an AmeriCorps tutoring and enrichment program focused on improving K-12 student achievement in math and science. STEM-Corps East Members are placed in a school or after-school program where they will serve as a tutor for students who are struggling in math and science classes. STEM-Corps East members will be part of a diverse team of STEM Tutors working under the direction of on-site supervisors. Throughout their 12-month term of service, they and other members will engage students in STEM curriculum activities, participate in training activities and community service events, and recruit volunteers in Beaufort, Lenoir, and Pitt Counties.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of the project and has the major responsibilities of recruiting, training, and supervising tutors and community volunteers to implement STEM-Corps East. Specific duties of the Program Coordinator include: organizing member training; maintaining AmeriCorps member files (digital and hard copy); using digital reporting to oversee and verify members' hours of service; working with Human Resources to ensure that members complete required criminal background checks; conducting regular site visits to ensure that project requirements and objectives are met on a timely basis; conducting mid-year and final evaluations with On-Site Supervisors regarding members and service projects; setting up authorized users and monitoring data entry in OnCorps; providing technical assistance to members and program sites as needed; meeting with On-Site Supervisors and program directors and reviewing all records systems for adequacy to support the members; organizing and coordinating national days of service; and monitoring selected Internet and other media resources used by members.

The Program Coordinator assists the Executive Director in the development of evaluation and research plans; assists the Executive Director in producing quarterly and yearly reports for funding agencies and key stakeholders.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire.
