MEDIATOR & CONFLICT RESOLUTION ADMINISTRATOR

Job Description: The Mediator and Conflict Resolution Administrator has responsibility for monitoring the policies and procedures of the University student conduct system and for administering the Student Code of Conduct. The Mediator and Conflict Resolution Administrator manages student conduct programs for the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. The role collaborates with the various departments within the Division of Student Affairs, Office of Equity and Diversity, East Carolina University Police Department, and General Counsel Office to develop, interpret and implement East Carolina University's student code of conduct and University policies.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of two years of experience at the post-secondary level. Basic knowledge of ethical and legal parameters in higher education, especially as they pertain to conduct and students. Ability to infuse creative, compassionate, culturally competent approaches to problem solving. An understanding of student development, counseling theories, and/or conflict resolution. The ability to apply theory in practice in a university setting is necessary. Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Team building skills. Ability to build positive and effective relationships across the campus and community. Strong commitment to diversity. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Knowledge of legal issues in higher education. Ability to provide exemplary customer service. Supervisory experience. Experience interacting with the public, attorneys, parents, students, staff, and faculty. Also, demonstrated skills of leadership, communication, a well-developed sense of responsibility, sensitivity to individual differences, an understanding of how to promote student learning and academic success, and an enthusiastic interest in working with students.
