The College of Education is seeking applications for a nine-month, probationary (tenure-track) faculty position, with additional appointment as the Lora Wilson King Distinguished Professor, available August 16, 2017. The Lora W. King Distinguished Professorship in Education is an endowed chair in the College of Education dedicated to achieving excellence through partnerships.

In addition to teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses, the Lora W. King Professorship requires collaborative work, such as: field-based research, grant writing, presenting colloquia to regional educators and other professionals, and assisting in faculty development. Of particular importance will be the long term development of partnership initiatives with K-12 and/or community college groups, which is a central goal of the College's mission.

At East Carolina University, the distinguished professorship is a renewable appointment awarded for a stated definite term in conjunction with the initial probationary faculty appointment. Renewal of professorship is contingent upon satisfactory performance in completion of the responsibilities of the position.


Minimum Qualifications: Requires an earned doctoral degree and qualifications for academic appointment in one of the departments in the College of Education (Interdisciplinary Professions; Elementary Education and Middle Grades Education; Educational Leadership, Literacy Studies, English, and History Education; Mathematics, Science and Instructional Technology Education; or Special Education, Foundations, and Research).
