COUNSELOR

Job Description: Responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic recruitment plan in a territory designated by the Senior Associate Director for Recruitment. Reports information related to the outcomes of recruitment initiatives to include budgetary impact and enrollment funnel data for the designated territory. Presents information sessions at East Carolina University and in high schools, community colleges, college fairs, community programs, and other special events. Advises and counsels prospective students and families on the educational opportunities at East Carolina University, admissions criteria, policies, procedures, academic and major scholarship programs, and student services within the university. Engages high school counselors and administrators to steward strong relationships with feeder and emerging schools. Participates in the holistic review of applications and makes recommendations for admission based on a comprehensive assessment of candidates. Assists in the development, maintenance and execution of the office's communication plan for prospective and admitted students, online resources for internal and external constituents, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions handbook. Evaluates applications and participates in recruitment activities. Participates in regular professional development and training initiatives related to the recruiter and banner systems through which information is stored and managed. Represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at university meetings and committees where appropriate. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Director for Recruitment or the Director of Admissions.


Minimum Qualifications: The minimum requirement for this position is graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
