COORDINATOR OF AQUATICS, BOATHOUSE & SAFETY SERVICES

Job Description: This position will be responsible for the successful development of aquatic programs and management of aquatic facilities which include an indoor and outdoor pool located at the Student Recreation Center and a boathouse and lakefront area located at the North Recreational Complex. This position hires trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates all aquatic staff members, and develops, implements and promotes aquatic, lakefront and safety services programs. The position will coordinate educational and motivational efforts and provide certification for employees in First-Aid, Cardiopulmonary (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP) and Lifeguarding. The Coordinator will be responsible for maintenance of the Student Recreation Center pool(s) and boathouse areas. This position has primary responsibility for establishing risk management procedures relevant to this functional area and regularly conducts staff training and audits. He/she will represent the University at state, regional and national conferences for the purpose of staying abreast of technological advances in the field of recreation related to aquatics, lakefront operations and safety services, and will report to the Associate Director for Facilities.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health and Fitness, Kinesiology, or related field.
Two years of professional experience in aquatics.
Experience in hiring, training and supervising personnel.
Knowledge relating to facility management, risk management, budget policies and data analysis.
Strong written and oral communication skills and computer utilization skills.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid Instructor, and Artificial Electronic Defibrillator (AED) certification within 60 days of hire.
Current Lifeguard Certification
The person must maintain a valid North Carolina Driver's license without punitive restrictions.
