CLINICAL NUTRITIONIST

Job Description: The primary purpose of this job is to provide medical nutrition therapy to ECU students, and collaboration within the division and University to provide nutrition education events, outreach programs and interventions on campus on behalf of Student Health Services. In addition, the person in this position will perform other duties as necessary for the advancement of nutrition education efforts within the ECU Student Health Service and the University.

Duties include but are not limited to providing individual consultations and group sessions to students in all areas of nutrition education with specialties in eating disorders and sports nutrition. Recruiting, training, and supervising Nutrition Graduate Assistant. Leading in the development, implementation and evaluation of all nutrition education programs within the Student Health Service. Keeping current with all areas of medical nutrition therapy with special emphasis in eating disorder research and treatment therapies and sports nutrition. Developing promotional materials on nutrition topics and other health education topics as needed. Teaching classes in academics as a guest lecturer as requested. Providing nutrition education to on and off campus groups. Providing referrals for services not readily available on campus. Representing Student Health Services when collaborating with other campus departments to coordinate campus awareness campaigns and events. Developing and implementing assessments, working with the Office of Research Assessment and Testing as needed. Collaborating with Student Health Service providers, Center for Counseling and Student Development, and others as a member of the Eating Disorder Treatment Team. Serving on Student Health Service and campus committees as appointed. Representing ECU campus community on local and regional health related organizations. Pursing grant funding opportunities as needed. Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Dietetics/Nutrition

Registered Dietitian and NC State License Dietitian/Nutritionist required.

Knowledge of current medical nutrition therapy and treatment modalities.

Experience with nutrition program development, implementation and evaluation.

Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research design, implementation, and interpretation

Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, a team oriented work style, and the ability to work cooperatively with various faculty, staff, and students throughout the campus community.
