CHORAL MUSIC EDUCATION/CONDUCTOR

Job Description: The School of Music at East Carolina University is seeking applications for a tenure-track, nine-month, full time faculty position available August 2017. Candidate will teach choral music education and conduct a choral ensemble. Teach courses within the undergraduate degree program and the online Master of Music in Music Education degree program. Supervise interns in music education. Maintain an active program of appropriate research/creative activity.

The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 300 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The Bachelor of Music Education degree is offered as well as the Bachelor of Music with concentrations in music therapy, performance, or theory-composition. In addition, the School offers a music minor at the undergraduate level. The Master of Music is offered in music education, pedagogy, performance, theory-composition, and a graduate certificate in Advanced Performance Studies. The School is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

East Carolina University, the third largest institution in the University of North Carolina System, is a research doctoral intensive university with an enrollment of over 28,000 students. The University is located in Greenville, North Carolina, a progressive and growing city of over 90,000 that serves as the cultural and economic center of North Carolina's historic Coastal Plain. Greenville is within easy driving distance of the Atlantic coast and the Research Triangle area of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill; as well as Richmond, Virginia and Washington, D.C.


Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D or DMA required. Three years public school choral teaching/conducting. Eligibility for North Carolina teaching licensure.
