BUSINESS OFFICER - JOURNEY

Job Description: Provides administrative and analytical assistance to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Administration in the Division of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) within the broad business functions of the Office of the Vice Chancellor. Manages and monitors budget for the Division office and the division's units encompassing a broad variety of funding sources. Develops reports and analyzes fiscal information to help the Assistant VC plan future funding allocations. Maintains frequent contact with personnel in other divisions, colleges and schools regarding funding and support from REDE. Plans and delivers personal on-the-job training for new Administrative Support personnel in the Division. Serves on SHRA personnel search committees for units within the Division and provides insight and feedback. Approves all position and personnel action forms for the Division. Manages the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs working directly with the Assistant VC for Research on policy, procedures and best practices. Prepares postdoc contracts, administers their health insurance program and coordinates postdoc reappointments and terminations with Principal Investigators and their administrative staff. The Business Officer functions with autonomy and has the authority to analyze data and render decisions in the areas of financial and personnel management. Will advise and consult with the Assistant VC for Administration as needed and as appropriate.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.


Salary Grade Equivalent: 73 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
