ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FIELD EDUCATION

Job Description: ECU invites applications for a 12-month non-faculty Assistant Director of Field Education with some teaching duties as Teaching Instructor in the School of Social Work, College of Health and Human Performance. The primary administrative responsibilities would be to assist the Director of Field Education with administrative duties, serve as primary BSW program liaison in the field, serve as a BSW committee member, represent field education program as member of BSW admissions and retention, assist with BSW admission review and work with the SOSW scholarship committee as BSW field representative. The internship development responsibilities are to recruit, screen, develop new internships, and to host agencies and field supervisors. Primary practice areas include generalist practice, schools, and community nonprofits. Recruitment strategies include participation in professional organizations and community events. Placement process responsibilities are to coordinate BSW field application and placement process. Placement coordination includes being responsible for placement of 75 -90 students annually. Supervise students in completion of agency pre-placement requirements including criminal background checks, immunization histories, drug screening and HIPAA training. Field training and orientation strategies include training, recognition initiatives and ongoing support. Responsible for design, coordination and co-facilitating BSW introduction to field session. Field orientation duties include designing the event, create and co-facilitating student sessions. Teaching duties include teaching BSW field course (4990 12sh) or the foundation MSW I field course (SOCW 6940), Also responsible for providing external supervision to students who need supplemental supervision in their field agencies.


Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a MSW degree from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of three years MSW practice experience. Applicants for this position must be able to organize and administer a multi-faceted operation requiring high levels of interaction with School faculty, students and practitioners in the field. This position requires some teaching.
