The Associate Dean of Assessment, Research, and Graduate Programs is responsible for coordinating the College of Education’s (www.ncat.edu/CEd) quality assurance system including strategic planning, assessment implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The Associate Dean provides leadership for and coordination of the operational function of the research mission of the College including strategic partnerships with Foundations, agencies, corporations, and businesses. The Associate Dean also provides leadership for and coordination of the operational function of the College’s graduate academic mission. The Associate Dean works closely with the dean, department chairs, and Assistant Dean to develop and support the enhancement of the faculty human capital. The Associate Dean serves on the Graduate Council, the Council of Associate and Assistant Deans (CAAD), the university’s Institutional Effectiveness Council, and other committees as assigned. The Associate Dean also represents the College at events and activities when the Dean is unavailable.
The Associate Dean must have a doctorate in education or a related field and a strong record of research, scholarly, and/or creative achievement that warrants tenure in an academic department at North Carolina A&T State University. Administrative experience as department chair, program coordinator, or similar position also is required.
In addition to the required qualifications and a record that suggests the ability to
perform the essential duties of the position, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in an administrative role (e.g., department chair, program coordinator, or similar position); strong interpersonal, analytic, and written and oral communication skills; knowledge of the disciplines and programs represented in the College; ability to perform the essential duties related to internal operations of the College including, but not limited to: accreditation, assessment, curricula development, research programs, and student success; commitment to serving diverse constituencies in a shared governance environment; ability to interpret policies and apply regulations within given business practices and organizational structures; desire to work in a team-based, dynamic environment.
