Title IX Investigator

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Title IX Investigator for the Title IX Office. This is a full-time, permanent staff position. The Title IX Office is dedicated to promoting a safe and healthy campus environment through compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and The Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE). Title IX requires equity in all educational programs and activities without sex discrimination and Campus SaVE requires education and prevention of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking.

 

Minimum Qualifications: This position will require the candidate have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; demonstrated experience in complaint and/or grievance processes; strong organizational, planning and analytical skills; the ability to remain neutral; ability to use discretion and good judgement and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. This position requires a Title IX Investigator Certification.

 

Essential Job Duties: The primary responsibility of the Title IX Investigator is to conduct and manage investigations of complaints as reported to the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Investigator will conduct a prompt, thorough, fair and impartial investigation, which includes: timely communicating with all parties involved in the investigation, interviewing Complainants and Respondents; identifying and interviewing witnesses; and identifying, gathering, securing and analyzing relevant documentation and other information that may be helpful in bringing the matter to a resolution. The Title IX Investigator will draft a detailed investigative report summarizing his or her findings in each investigation that will be provided to Complainants and Respondents and will be submitted as evidence in hearings before the Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence and Stalking Hearing Panel. The Title IX Investigator will recommend, in his or her opinion, whether a University policy has been violated based on a preponderance of the evidence standard.
