Associate Vice Chancellor, Facilities Management

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for an Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management. This is a full-time, permanent staff position. The mission of Facilities Management is to provide a quality learning, research, and living environment for the benefit of students, faculty, staff, and the community by planning, building, operating, and maintaining the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of ten years of experience in Facilities Management or related field. Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Professional Engineer license or Architecture license preferred.

Essential Job Duties: The Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management will report to the Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs and will be responsible for leading a department of 466 employees and seven direct reports. The selected candidate will oversee a Facilities Management budget of approximately $45M annually and a Utilities Fund budget of $14M. Current major capital projects include a $65M recreational center with a parking deck and a $101M major science building that is currently in design. The selected candidate manage construction and renovation programs to meet the present and future needs of the University. This candidate will manage the operation and maintenance of the University’s physical plant to include building structures, heating and air conditioning, utility systems, roads and grounds, housekeeping, waste disposal, and recycling. He / she will manage a preventive maintenance program to keep all campus facilities and infrastructure functioning properly. The Associate Vice Chancellor will also serve as the principal advisor to the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor in developing the facilities master plan for the University. The selected candidate will be assigned special or extra duties as determined by the Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs. These may include serving on University-wide or UNC System-wide committees. Incumbent serves as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte representative on the UNC Bond Alliance – a System-wide committee to coordinate capital construction programs. He / she chairs the University of North Carolina at Charlotte committee on Facilities Scheduling and Inventory.
