Assistant Director for Identity, Equity, and Engagement

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for an Assistant Director for Identity, Equity, and Engagement for the office of the Dean of Students. This is a full-time, permanent staff position. The Dean of Students Office coordinates a variety of campus-wide programs and services. Within each program area, staff members are directly involved in student group advising, leadership training and development, and teaching in addition to coordinating services and programs for other defined student populations.   

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in student affairs, leadership development, social work, or other applicable field is required.

Essential Job Duties: The Assistant Director for Identity, Equity, and Engagement will lead the Student Advising for the Freshmen Excellence (SAFE) program. Provide tactical and strategic administrative direction for SAFE, a peer mentioning program geared to 200 incoming minority students. The incumbent will be meet regularly with academic partner/s from the Office of Academic Diversity and Inclusion, recruit, select and evaluate 30-40 SAFE Coordinators and Counselors. Other duties include but are not limited to managing a budget in excess of $100,000, assist with advising and counseling, teaching or co-teaching one for credit course per academic year.
