Assistant Director/Staff Psychologist/Training Dir
The University Counseling Center at the University of Mississippi is pleased to announce an opening for an Assistant Director/Staff Psychologist/Director of Training that will be instrumental in the creation and development of our training program. The UCC is a vital member of the Division of Student Affairs and houses the Student Counseling Services, the Employee Assistance Program Mental Health Services, and the Violence Prevention Office. We have a multidisciplinary staff that functions together in ethical practice for our campus community with special attention paid to students from diverse backgrounds. We work hard to establish and maintain good collaborative efforts across campus and enjoy the support of the upper level administration.
The Assistant Director/Training Director is a supervisory position in which the AD/TD
1) evaluates mental and emotional disorders of individuals and makes diagnoses, 2) provides individual, couples and group counseling to the campus community, 3) participates in crisis intervention, and 4) provides consultation as needed to the campus community. (S)he supervises professional staff and trainees in clinical and administrative matters and has primary responsibility for daily management of the training program. We are looking for a licensed or license eligible psychologist in the state of Mississippi who holds a doctorate from an accredited program with 2 years of experience in a university counseling center. Job duties include: 1) managing day to day operations of the training program, 2) establishing and maintaining an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship, 3) providing leadership in coordinating clinical, training and outreach activities related to the training program, and 4) participating in the after-hours on-call rotation. The AD/TD may assume some additional responsibilities in the absence of the director or as assigned by the director. The UCC expects all staff to become adept at utilizing the electronic records system (Titanium), to provide high quality clinical services to the campus population (including underserved populations) and to create and implement psycho-educational programming to the campus community.
