Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a creative team of marketing, public relations, media relations, publications, and web professionals in the development and execution of a comprehensive, integrated communications and marketing program This includes coordinating the efforts of various university offices and working with all university departments to ensure successful implementation of university initiatives.
  • Oversee the management of the University brand, assuring that the brand messaging and graphic identity of the University are consistent in all marketing efforts
  • Ensure proper use and application of Delta State University trademarks and strengthen the Delta State brand through relationships with retailers, licensees, campus departments, student organizations, alumni, and friends.
  • Interact with local and statewide media as primary point of contact for media opportunities, arrange media interviews with university administrators and faculty, and serve as facilitator for responses and media inquiries.
  • Direct the development of communications strategies and messages and provide for their timely release to the media.
  • Monitor market trends and provide leadership in efforts aimed at increasing visibility of the University in local communities, as well as the state, regional, national, and international levels.
  • Ensure the University's web site is appropriately designed and maintained as a conduit of information.
  • Ensure the University's new media presence is continually updated and serves as an effective and efficient conduit of information.
  • Oversee the continued renewal and improvement of the effectiveness of university publications.
  • Manage the human resources and fiscal resources of the Office of Communications and Marketing.

    Qualifications:
    - Bachelors degree required in field of public relations, journalism, marketing, communications, or related field; masters degree preferred. Relevant administrative experience may substitute for a graduate degree.
    - Five years experience in public relations, promotions, marketing, or similar field.
    - Excellent written and oral communications skills.
    - Clear understanding of the role of the regional university.
    - Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    - Knowledge of marketing, graphic design, publications, and web development.
    - Competency in electronic and social media and ability to manage new media.
    - Flexible schedule is required, including evening and weekend work.

    Salary:
    Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and universitys resources.
