Job Summary

The Department of Education invites qualified applicants for a full-time (tenure-track) faculty appointment in Educational Equity.



Teach the equivalent of a full seven-course load per year. Primary teaching focus will be in educational equity and educational psychology, with teacher education courses Educational Equity (EDU317GZ) and Intermediate Educational Psychology (EDU372).

The faculty member will be responsible for developing his or her own research agenda and dissemination within a community of scholars. General faculty responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, student advising, department and committee assignments, department accreditation work, and service within the field at the local, state, and/or national levels. There will be opportunity and expectation for the faculty member to lead in the areas of recruitment and retention of diverse teacher candidates.



Demonstrated capacity for motivating and engaging classroom instruction, reflective practice, and the ability to encourage critical thinking by presenting and building discourse around diverse perspectives found in educational dialogues, psychology, cross-cultural understanding, current events, classroom practice, and culturally responsive teaching methodology.

Academic expertise in the courses to be taught: Educational Psychology, with a focus on Intermediate Elementary and Special Education; and Educational Equity, with a focus on Culturally Responsive Teaching, Equity Conversations/Issues, and preparation for teaching diverse demographic groups in Minnesota and beyond. Demonstrated history of effective work in team-oriented work environments and collegial design efforts.



Certification/licensure and tenured teaching experience in K-6 education required (5+ years), K-12 preferred. Coursework and/or experience in a combination of educational psychology, mental health, curriculum, instruction, educational equity studies, reconciliation studies, or closely related fields.
Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education and/or graduate research. Evidence of scholarly work in the field. This could include publications, research, professional grant work, professional consulting, presentations, or training.



Doctorate in Education or related field preferred; significant progress towards doctorate considered.
