Position Responsibilities
St. Catherine University, St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses, is accepting applicants for a full-time Pipefitter in our Facilities Department. The Pipefitter is responsible for the lay out, fabrication, assembly, installation and maintenance of piping and piping systems, supports, fixtures and equipment for industrial piping systems based on their knowledge of system operation and study of building plans or working drawings. This includes carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome and PVC systems.

Responsibilities including but not limited to:
• General Pipefitter duties including housekeeping clean-up procedures
• General identification of materials, fabrication and installation
• Install all types of pipe; ductile iron mechanical joint pipe, fabricate for socket weld pipe from isometrics
• Use power tools, drill motors, end and angle grinders, and port-a-bands
• Identify all types of pipe fittings, socket weld fittings and all thread rod by size/left/right hand threads; Identify pipe fittings by size, type, material, and service type
• Identify gaskets materials by size, material, type, and ratings; Identify hanger components by type, kind, size, and material composition
• Read and interpret pipe blueprints to erect and fabricate piping systems (Ortho, ISO , P&ID, GA), isometric drawings and hanger and support drawings
• Identify Rigging Equipment; Perform simple rigging operations
• Set-Up and operate oxy-acetylene torch for heating and cutting; Set-up and purge stainless steel pipe
• Identify and discriminate cutting and welding gases
• Install reinforced concrete pipe and all types of pipe and ductile iron mechanical joint pipe
• Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Journeyman Pipefitter certification/license is required
• Must have the knowledge and ability to do material takeoffs, figure offsets, takeoff of fittings, and rigging
• Teamwork, effective communication and leadership are a must
• Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need)
• Individual must be able to follow safety rules, verbal and written instructions and must be familiar with power and hand tools for necessary work
• Must be able to work independently, be flexible, and work well with others
• The successful candidate must have the ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families and communities.
