Located in historic Northfield, Minnesota – just 40 miles from the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul – Carleton boasts an outstanding faculty, intelligent and engaged students, committed staff, and a passionate alumni body. The College is consistently listed among the top ten liberal arts colleges in various national surveys, including a number one ranking for undergraduate teaching.

Carleton offers 32 majors in the arts, humanities, natural sciences/mathematics, and social sciences. Carleton’s world-renowned faculty are deeply committed to student success.

The incoming Director will develop and build upon strategies to achieve measurable goals and outcomes. The Director engages a range of constituencies including students, parents, alumni, faculty, prospective and existing employers, and a range of external relationships. S/he will also partner with other offices and departments across the College to ensure that career readiness is integrated throughout the Carleton student experience.

The Director of the Career Center will demonstrate an energetic commitment to the practical application and value of a liberal arts education and will possess exceptional analytical skills, both quantitatively and qualitatively, bringing an entrepreneurial, cutting-edge thought process to career services. A proven track record of career management program development with measurable success indicators and an advanced degree is expected (masters or doctoral). S/he will demonstrate a strong and visible personal and professional commitment to diversity and inclusion and a desire to develop talent in others, with a management style that fosters collaboration, entrepreneurial thinking, and strong performance around clearly communicated, metrics-driven goals.
