Residence Life Coordinator

Compensation: $33,000 plus furnished apartment, meal plan, and cell phone

As a member of the Housing and Residential Life team, the Residence Life Coordinator, will assume a vital role in the residence program for the growth of the individual through community living. The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for providing and supporting student development and leadership, building community, and promoting learning in the residential community. This is a 12-month live-in position.

1. Responsible for creating a living and learning environment in the residence halls and apartments, enhancing academics, and retention initiatives.
2. Directly supervise, train, evaluate, and provide leadership for student community coordinators, resident assistants, and program assistants.
3. Review student concerns, warnings, and incident reports working in collaboration with other University departments as appropriate related to students of concern.
4. Manage and maintain a programming budget.
5. Track programming and implement the Residence Life programming model.
6. Foster successful relationships between University departments, community and Housing & Residential Life.
7. Coordinate and expand academic-related services and programs including collaboration with faculty, staff, and students, which create and enhance the living-learning environment.
8. Lead an assigned area in collaboration with Counseling Services, Outdoor Adventure Programs, and the Wellness team on issues regarding health and wellness initiatives.
9. Ensure that residence hall safety and security procedures are established and maintained.
10. Maintain all human resource and personnel files as appropriate for student staff.
11. Address academic concerns for staff members.
12. Assist with the review, updates, and maintenance of the staff crisis protocol, staff manuals, on-line forms, residence hall policies and procedures, web pages, etc.
13. Assist with summer residence hall programs and conferences.
14. Assist with the coordination of openings, closings, and break transitions of the residence halls for the Residence Life area.
15. Live-in responsibilities include maintaining visibility and availability, serving on the emergency on-call team, advising and support for student council, lead hall operations meetings for assigned building, and assist in planning and coordinating of programs.
16. Teach one section of a college success course during spring semester.
17. Serve as a hearing officer and act as a liaison with Academic and Community Conduct.
18. Act as a liaison with the Department of Public Safety and Police Services to support the Residential Officer Program.
19. Recognize staff efforts as appropriate.
20. Complete and assist with the implementation of the Cultural Competency Training curriculum.
21. Assist with individual student and parent interventions.
22. Actively participate on Student Affairs work teams and University committees as appropriate.
23. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
24. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
25. Work irregular hours due to the nature of the position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functional supervision is exercised over student staff responsible for the delivery of the Residence Life Program.
