Summary of Position The Gallery Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Exhibitions and Curator of Exhibitions to oversee exhibitions throughout campus. The Gallery Coordinator will manage the Helen Miller Kendall ( HMK ) Gallery and Gallery 104 by scheduling, preparing, securing, installing and de-installing gallery exhibitions and other display materials. Key responsibilities include coordination of student gallery worker schedules, preparation and maintenance of exhibitions, storage and preparatory spaces. This is a part-time position to work a maximum of 28 hours per week. Weekly schedule may vary according to exhibition and event schedule and may include evenings and/or weekends as needed.

Required Qualifications
Required Education BFA or related degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies or related field.
Required Work Experience At least 1-2 years of progressively responsible experience in art handling, gallery or museum work.

Duties Schedules, coordinates, installs and de-installs exhibitions for the HMK Gallery and Gallery 104.
Prepares and maintains exhibitions and provides/coordinates safe packing, crating, handling, transportation, and storage of artwork.
Creates and installs exhibition-related graphics, signage, and labels.
Manage the gallery events calendar.
Post announcements and events to gallery webpage and social media.
Adheres to and helps enforce the mission of the school and the KCAD Galleries.
Schedules and prioritizes work, assesses resource needs and determines adjustments as required.
Assists with installations and de-installations in The Fed Galleries.
Manages the schedule of student workers and volunteers.
Assists in the development of exhibition and special project budgets for HMK Gallery and Gallery 104.
Manages the ongoing monitoring of the condition and appearance of the physical spaces and exhibitions, identifies problem areas and recommend solutions, oversee the necessary repair/maintenance or coordinates work with other departments as required.
Oversees the maintenance and repair of tools, equipment, and supplies.
Insures adherence to safe workplace practices and procedures in the handling of art and in all preparation work and workshop spaces.
Performs other duties as required.

Manages, instructs, motivates, and assists student gallery workers and volunteers. Coordinates and creates exhibition-related graphics, signage, and labels. Manages physical space (wall repair, construction, painting, lighting). Monitors environmental needs in gallery space. Reports to Curator of Exhibitions with some reporting to the Director of Exhibitions.
