Research Associate Position in Computer Science and Engineering Education

The Computer Science and Engineering Education research group at Michigan State University (MSU) in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education, invites applications for a Research Associate position in computing education. The position is a full-time annual one year appointment with the possibility of a second year dependent on performance and funding. We seek candidates with a background in computing education to work on projects to design, implement, and assess computational thinking in elementary grade classrooms. Ideal candidates would have background and familiarity with research in computing education in K-12. The candidates should have experience working with K-12 teachers.

 

Duties:

  • Collaborate on the development of computational thinking activities and lesson plans for elementary classrooms with the project team
  • Support research and data collection with the project team
  • Collaborate on publications related to the project

 

Required Degree: Applicants should have an earned relevant doctoral degree (or provide evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed prior to the start of the appointment) in computing education, educational technology, or a related field.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Potential to engage in scholarly activity relevant to teaching and learning in P-16.

 

Desired Qualifications:  Experience working on computing education projects and have experience working with K-12 teachers.
