Project Manager will be charged with the daily coordination of the work of the Sound of Society consortium project (Sound of Society or SOS), combining the efforts of Sphinx, New World Symphony and League of American Orchestras, with critical input from musicians. The ultimate aim of SOS is to diversify American Orchestras through audition resources, rigorous training and preparation. A successful project manager will have:
- at minimum, a Bachelor-level degree, will have experience in the orchestral field and/or arts administration
- high level of organization/operational capacity
- a passion for transforming the field through diversity
Core duties of the project manager will include development, dissemination and coordination of musician survey and data collection, compiling data and interpreting results, coordinating SOS artists’ participation in mentor coachings, consultation sessions, artist audition “boot camps”, Sphinx Orchestral Partnerships Auditions (SOPA), consortium coordination and communications, and beyond. The position is an independent contractor role and ideally represents a 3-year commitment. Compensation and logistics commensurate with experience (ideal placement in Detroit, though not required).
