Summary of Position Working under the general direction of the Assistant Dean for Collections and Access Services, performs a combination of routine and non-routine library duties of moderate complexity requiring mid-level knowledge and judgment within pre-defined limits. Primary responsibilities involve cataloging, acquisitions, and web services support. May hire, train, and supervise student employees. May participate in training lower-classified clerical-technical employees. May be cross-trained with other clerical-technical employee(s) to meet the needs of the Library. Primarily assigned to Collections and Access Services Team, but may perform cross-functional duties or be assigned to cross-functional work teams.

Required Qualifications

Required Education Associate degree from an accredited academic institution or equivalent.
The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Equivalency for education is two years of relevant work experience involving library technical services (e.g. cataloging, acquisitions, etc.) equals one year of education.

Required Work Experience Two years of clerical work experience in an office or library setting.
Experience using technical services staff functions of a library management system.

Required Licenses and Certifications

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited academic institution.
Work experience in an academic library or other college/university setting.
Familiarity with tools used for website design.

Duties The supervising assistant dean will assign a specific duty roster.
Performs all duties listed in Library Assistant 1 and 2 position descriptions as needed.
Performs a combination of routine and non-routine library duties of moderate complexity requiring mid-level knowledge and judgment within pre-defined limits.
Primary responsibilities involve cataloging, acquisitions, and web services support.
Troubleshoots and analyzes issues and problems and develops recommendations for solutions.
May serve as a primary contact to one or more vendors or other external agencies.
Runs system-generated reports for operational, statistical, and other purposes.
Participates in Team and Library-wide projects and may lead or co-lead Team projects.
Documents procedures and participates in developing policies and designing workflows.
May be cross-trained with other clerical-technical employee(s) to meet the needs of the library.
May hire, train, and supervise student employees.
May participate in training other clerical-technical employees.
Participates in Collections and Access Services Team, Library, and University-wide meetings and committees.
May participate in statewide library work groups.
Participates in appropriate training and professional development.
Other duties as assigned.
