Housekeeper (Internal Only)


Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Housekeeper. This is an internal posting to which only current SU employees are eligible to apply.

Primary Job Duties: Under direct supervision this position will maintain building interiors and ensure cleanliness, orderliness and attractive conditions are maintained in assigned areas. Clean assigned areas by washing furnishings, windows, tile, fixtures, equipment and floors. Vacuum, dust and polish specified areas and/or furnishings. Sanitize and disinfect bathroom areas. Gather and transport refuse from assigned areas to appropriate disposal location. Inspect physical condition of assigned areas; submit requests to appropriate personnel regarding repairs, replacements, furnishings and relocation of equipment. Request cleaning materials and supplies from designated areas; mix cleaning solutions according to specifications, load and transport service cart with required materials and supplies to designated work areas. Operate standard cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, and mops; and move furniture and equipment as required. Set up rooms for events.

Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; to understand and follow directions; to lift up to 30 lbs. and move furniture, equipment and supplies; to transport refuse; and to wear and work in personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications: High School diploma or GED preferred. Two years' experience with housekeeping equipment and/or duties preferred.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Starting salary is $12.06 per hour. The schedule associated with this position is eligible for shift differential of an additional $1.00 per hour. The primary schedule is tentatively M-F 5:00pm-1:30am with occasional weekends required. This position is considered essential and will be called upon to provide emergency coverage when necessary.
