Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Gift Acceptance and/or Manager of Gift Acceptance, this position performs constituent maintenance and financial activities related to processing of charitable contributions and alumni association memberships to the University of Maryland College Park.

• Utilizes Advance to process charitable contributions and memberships for the College Park Foundation, University System of Maryland Foundation, the State of Maryland, and the Alumni Association within 48 hours
• Review donor and gift documentation for completeness and accuracy and research in order to provide accurate and timely service to donors and members
• Perform biographical research using third party vendors such as Accurint, QAS , the internet and other internal sources on donors and enter information into Advance
• Research and resolve donor/member issues
• Master and utilize new technology processes (uploading gifts/pledges/memberships, barcode/scanline, online, wireless and other technical processes)
• Master and perform gift acceptance projects (alumni association membership, matching gift program, direct mail, major gifts, payroll deduction, gifts-in-kind)
• Produce daily reports
• Create, review and mail donor correspondence/ IRS tax documents
• Scan documents utilized by divisional staff and for long term historical retention
• Handle checks, cash, credit cards, EFT , ACH , stock, wire transactions

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree AND Two years experience in administrative staff work. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferences:

Full certification and training on the Advance database is required within probationary period.

Experience:
Two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: handling large sums of money, gift/membership processing, using Advance, administrative office work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires an eye for detail and patience for research and repetitive work.
Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
Ability to perform mathematical computations.
Skill in the use of office automation software and its application and in operating manual and automated office equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
