Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Under the direction of the Director of Membership, the Membership Account Specialist provides programmatic support to the University of Maryland Alumni Association membership office. S/he is responsible for reviewing, processing, updating and maintaining membership applications and donor information as well as accurately crediting payments, gifts, donations and other charitable contributions within a timely fashion. Other responsibilities include independently researching and resolving donor/member issues and customer inquiries; overseeing the gift acceptance process for matching gifts program, direct mail, major gifts, payroll deductions, and gifts-in-kind programs; preparing checks, cash, credit cards, EFT , ACH , stock, and wire transactions for deposits and processing these charitable contributions according to UMCP Foundation policies, procedures, and guidelines; conduct research using third party sources to identify new and relevant donor information; prepare daily reports, donor correspondence, IRS tax documents.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree and Four years experience in administrative staff work. Working knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data and information, working knowledge of analytical and statistical principles and techniques. Skill in the use of office automation software and its applications, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to handle sensitive materials with discretion and tact, to present ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; to perform mathematical computations; to present statistical material in chart and graph form. Ability to independently handle multiple tasks and set priorities. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Must receive Advance training and certification within probationary period.

Skill in the use of office automation software and its application and in operating manual and automated office equipment.

Ability to plan, analyze, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
