Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Coordinator provides executive administrative support to the Associate Vice President ( AVP ) for Strategic Communications, including but not limited to, serving as the primary point of contact for the AVP , managing his calendar, compiling and preparing materials for meetings, coordinating the logistics for meetings, prioritizing incoming requests, maintaining files, and ensuring the confidentiality of information. In addition, this individual will provide administrative support and office coordination for the Office of the Vice President of University Relations ( VPUR ). This will include serving as the initial point of contact for the VPUR office, providing phone coverage, coordinating meetings and events, working on special projects as assigned, ordering supplies, and serving as back-up administrative support. He/she will also provide budget and finance support, including reviewing and reconciling credit cards, disbursements, expense reports, and processing invoices for the VPUR office.

The position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, to respond to short deadlines and to assist with special events/projects and other campus activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):

Bachelors degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:
Must have at least 3 years of providing administrative support; a minimum of one year overseeing projects from start to finish.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High degree of attention to detail.
Professional demeanor.
Computational and problem solving skills.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work without constant direct supervision, utilizing good judgment in prioritizing tasks and making decisions.
Ability to organize and execute multiple assignments under specific time constraints.
Ability to reliably handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.
Ability to create and maintain orderly records and files, both digitally and in hard copy.
Strong customer service skills.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends and to respond to short deadlines and assist with special events and other campus activities.

Preferences:

Experience in higher education in a customer service role.
Familiarity with the University of Maryland systems and policies, including KFS .
Familiarity with SharePoint.
Familiarity with Advance or similar donor database skills.
