Notre Dame of Maryland University seeks an experienced, entrepreneurial 12th president to succeed Dr. Mary Pat Seurkamp, who is retiring after 15 years of extraordinary leadership. The new President will assume office in July 2012. 
 
Notre Dame’s new president must lead with strategic vision and bold decision-making in a complex academic environment.  The successful candidate will possess a terminal degree, and will bring a thorough understanding and deep commitment to Catholic higher education and the demonstrated abilities to: provide transformational leadership; to set and achieve bold goals; and to engage and inspire all of the University’s constituents in support of innovation, excellence, and growth. The successful candidate will also possess proven skills in donor development and fundraising, financial management, organizational development/effectiveness; and personal attributes of flexibility, diplomacy and high energy.
 
A school with a rich heritage of innovation, Notre Dame was founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame as the first U.S. Catholic college for women to grant the baccalaureate degree.  The University currently educates a diverse population of women and men through its four academic schools: Arts and Sciences, Education, Nursing, and Pharmacy.   Students and faculty members come from a variety of backgrounds, bringing multiple perspectives to the academic community. The University is known for its student-centered orientation and for its faculty commitment to superior teaching and scholarship.
 
The University’s total fall 2010 enrollment of 2,982 includes 1,290 women and men at the undergraduate level who choose from studies in 29 majors. Overall enrollment reflects 30 percent students of color.  Notre Dame’s  innovative programs ensure educational breadth across the University’s undergraduate Women’s College; College of Adult Undergraduate Studies serving part-time undergraduate students; College of Graduate Studies offering master’s degree programs in management, nonprofit management, nursing, liberal studies, communicating in contemporary culture; education degrees, including a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and a Ph.D. in Instructional Leadership for Changing Populations; a Doctor of Pharmacy degree; and the Renaissance Institute for senior citizens.  Courses are offered at a number of off-site locations and academic partnerships include institutions in the Baltimore area and in Japan, Australia, China, Taiwan, Korea, and London.
